The Edit
1. Louis Vuitton Speedy 25
Created in 1930 as the Express bag and renamed the Speedy to match the pace of modern travel, the 25cm version was commissioned by Audrey Hepburn herself in 1965 — the so-called "Audrey size" has been the house standard ever since. Monogram canvas, vachetta handles, brass zipper: nothing on this bag has changed in ninety years, and that is exactly the point. If you are going to own one Louis Vuitton for the rest of your life, this is the one.
2. Louis Vuitton Pochette Monogram
The Pochette Accessoires launched in 1992 as a modest evening pouch, then spent the early 2000s welded to the forearms of Paris Hilton, Jessica Simpson, and every tabloid socialite of the era. The Y2K revival has taken it from clearance-rack staple back to waiting-list-worthy. Still the easiest, smallest, most forgiving entry point into a Louis Vuitton collection.
3. Hermès Cannes MM Tote
Introduced in 1998 as part of Hermès' beach-and-resort capsule, the Cannes tote strips the house down to its bones: cotton canvas body, supple leather handles, a single pocket inside. It is the quiet alternative to a Birkin for the one week a year you actually go on vacation. A grown-up pool bag, if grown-ups spent the summer in Saint-Tropez.
4. Hermès Vinyl Kelly Orange
Martin Margiela's 1998 vinyl reinterpretation of the Kelly, made for Hermès' cult Kelly en Désordre resort line. See-through orange PVC is one of the rarest colorways the house has ever released — unapologetic, impossible to hide, built to be photographed. For collectors who already own the quiet pieces.
5. Gucci GG Marmont Ali
Alessandro Michele's 2016 Marmont revival took the GG double-logo silhouette and rendered it in quilted chevron calfskin with an antiqued brass turn-lock. The Ali variant adds a rigid top handle, pulling it out of shoulder-bag territory into something closer to a day bag. Logo-forward, but beautifully built — and already aging into a modern classic.
6. Gucci Jackie GG Canvas
First released in 1961 and adopted by Jackie Kennedy almost immediately — her endorsement made it one of the first celebrity-named luxury bags in the world. Tom Ford reissued it in 1999, then Alessandro Michele again in 2020. 11. Bottega Veneta Cassette Candy Green
Daniel Lee's 2020 smaller take on the Padded Cassette — the bag that put Bottega back on the hype radar. Intrecciato lambskin in Candy Green is the editor-pick colorway that sold out at retail in hours. 14. Fendi Bugs Micro Baguette
The Bugs motif — those fur-eyed, almost cartoonish monster faces — was a Karl Lagerfeld-era whimsy that began on charms around 2013 and migrated onto bags within a year. The Micro Baguette is barely larger than a modern phone. For collectors who want the small joke without the big logo commitment.
15. Dior Saddle Pouch Gray
